Green Dragons capture 13th Region All "A" Championship

(McKey, KY) Thursday Night the 13th Region All "A" Classic will crown a champion. The Harlan Green Dragons will travel to McKey to take on the Jackson County Generals.

 

The Green Dragons got on the board in the top of the first inning, after the Generals committed an error, Chris Rouse laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Jared Moore grounded out, each scoring one run.

 

A hit by a pitch, a single by Brody Owens, and a single by Luke Luttrell helped the Green Dragons extended their early lead in the third inning.

 

Owens opened the game for the Green Dragons. The righty gave up three hits and six runs (one earned) over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking four. Ashton Clemmons led thing off on the bump for the Generals. The right-handed pitcher allowed six hits and eight runs (five earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Jared Moore tossed two and two-thirds inning of scoreless ball for the Green Dragons in relief. The reliever surrendered two hits, striking out three and walking one.

 

Baylor Varner and Donovan Montanaro were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Green Dragons while hitting back-to-back. Luke Luttrell, the number eight hitter for Harlan led the way with two runs batted in. The left-handed hitter went 1-3 on the day. Donovan Montanaro stole four bases. Harlan amassing seven stolen bases for the game.

 

Noah Collett went 1-4 at the plate as the outfielder led the team with two runs batted in. Luke Elam went 2-4 at the plate to lead the Generals in hits.

 

With this win the Green Dragons will advance to the All "A" Sectionals with there opponent will TBA as of right now.

 

Harlan will return to action Saturday as they will travel to Betsy Layne High School, to take on the Betsy Layne Bobcats gametime is at 2:00 PM

 

Jackson County will return to action on Monday April 1 as they will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC to take on McLean County Cougars gametime is set for 7:00 PM
