Cardinals roll Past Sutherland Knights in Myrtle Beach, SC

(Myrtle Beach, SC) The South Laurel Cardinals traveled down South to Myrtle Beach to play baseball for the week. There first game down in Myrtle Beach was the Sutherland Knights (New York).

 

A single by Will Alsip put South Laurel on the board in the top of the first inning. in the second inning, Austin Byrd tripled, making the score 2-0. 

 

Sutherland Knights tied the game up in the bottom of the fourth inning with two ground out.

 

A ground out by Will Alsip gave South Laurel the lead back in the top of the fifth inning making the score 3-2.

 

Three more Cardinals runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 8-2. Cole Harville hit a solo home run to left field, Keaton Creech singled, scoring one run, and Noah Smith singled, scoring one run.

 

Cole Harville earned the win for the Cardinals. The righty surrendered two hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking none. Colin MacLean took the loss for the Knights. He went five innings, surrendering five runs (two earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking none.

 

South Laurel pilled up 11 hits in the game. Vince Sizemore, Keaton Creech, and Hunter Bundy each collected two hits for the Cardinals. Will Alsip and Waylon Hensley each drove in two runs for the Cardinals, they stole 4 bases in the game. South Laurel turned one double play  in the game. Tyler Curry had the most chances in the field with 13.

 

Max Vorrasi and Tyler Brown each collected one hit for Sutherland. Andrew Holvey and Ryan Munzinger were one-two punch in the line up as each player drove in one run for the Knights.

 

Up next for the Cardinals, they will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they will play Wilson Hall (Sumter), SC in Myrtle Beach, SC at 1:30 PM
