(Pigeon Forge, TN) This is game number one for the Whitley County Lady Colonels as they will be down in Pigeon Forge against 11th Region opponent the Madison Southern Lady Eagles.
A triple by Anna Kate Cress put the Lady Eagles on the board in the bottom of the first inning, they added to there early lead in the bottom of the second inning when Ashlyn Estep singled, scoring one run, and Anna Kate Cress doubled, scoring two runs. A sacrifice bunt by Ava Baldrige extend the Lady Eagles lead to 5-1 in the bottom of the third inning.
Lady Colonels scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Amber Brown hit an inside the park home run, scoring two runs, Adalee Johnson tripled, scoring two runs, a a wild pitch scored on run.
Madison Southern scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ashlyn Estep singled, scoring two runs, Anna Kate Cress singled, scoring two runs. Taylor Reeves doubled, scoring one run.
Kara Canada started in the circle for the Lady Colonels, she surrendered 11 hits and seven runs )five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking none. Belle Strunk opened the game in the circle for the Lady Eagles, she gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking three.
Adalee Johnson provided the pop in the middle of the lineup for the Lady Colonels with three runs batted in. Brown, Caylee Singleton, Johnson, and Canada each collected on hit for the Lady Colonels. Hallie Huddleston, and Brown each stole multiple bases. The Lady Colonels tallying five walks, had six stolen bases for the game as well.
The Lady Eagles had 18 hits for the game. Cress led the Lady Eagles with seven runs batted in, she also went 5-5 on the day. Estep, Reeves, and Allie Wilson each collected multiple hits for the Lady Eagles. On defense they turned one double play.
