Walk-off sends Green Dragons victory over Black Bears 5-4

(Harlan, KY) It's the second game of the cross-town district showdown between the Harlan County Black Bears and the Harlan Green Dragons. Harlan County won the first battle last night at Harlan County. Tonight it was at Harlan.

 

Black Bears got on the board in the top of the first inning after Mason Himes singled, and Tristan Cooper hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run.

 

Luke Luttrell singled, which helped the Green Dragons tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth inning.

 

Black Bears took the lead in the top of the seventh inning after Aiden Craig singled, and the Green Dragons committed an error, each scoring one run.

 

Luke Luttrell started on the hill for the Green Dragons, he surrendered four hits and four runs (zero earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out eight and walking three. Alex Creech began the game on the mound for the Black Bears, he gave up 11 hits and five runs (four earned) over six and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking two. Came into relief for the Green Dragons was Eli Freyer.

 

The Green Dragons piled up 11 hits in the game. Baylor Varner led the Green Dragons with three hits in four at bats. Montanaro went 1-3 at the plate while he led the team with three runs batted in. Eli Freyer collected two hits for the Green Dragons in three at bats. Eli Freyer also stole two bases.

 

Alex Creech went 1-4 at the plate as that led the Harlan County team with one run batted in. Aiden Craig led the team with two hits in two at bats. The Harlan County defense turned one double play in the game.
