Jaguars and Tigers play to a slugfest

(London, KY) The Barbourville Tigers hit the road on Saturday to take on the North Laurel Jaguars, in an absolute slugfest of a game.

 

In a wild first inning, the Tigers opened up the game putting a 5 spot on the board, thanks to West single to Left field, Collins walk, Miller walk, Miracle walk, and Sowders sacrifice fly to left field. Didn't take long for the Jaguars to answer, when they put up a 8 spot in the bottom of the first inning, thanks to Cupp single to center field, Elza walk, McWhorter triple to Center field, Kelley singles on a line drive to center field, and Holt single to Center field.

 

The Tigers answered with a run in the top of the second inning, thanks to West groundout to the third baseman.

 

Neither team had a run in the third inning but in the top of the fourth inning the Tigers answered with a run to trim the lead to one, 8-7 thanks to Hillard single to center field. In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Jaguars exploded to six runs, thanks to Elza singled to the second baseman, Hinkle doubled to center, Kelley singled to right field, Cupp reached on an error, and Gilliam walked.

 

The Tigers answered with a run in the top of the fifth inning, thanks to Miller ground out to the second baseman. In the top of the sixth inning, the Tigers answered with 3 runs, thanks to West single to center field, Peters strikeout looking allowed a run to score.

 

In the bottom of the sixth inning the Jaguars answered with 3 runs for themselves, thanks to Cupp hit by a pitch, Gilliam single to center field, and Hurley fly out to left field.

 

The Tigers went down 1,2,3 in the top of the seventh inning.

 

Houchens started the game for the Jaguars going 2 innings, came into for relief was Hinkle he went 4.2 innings, and Elza came in an pitched 0.1 innings.

 

Buchanan started the game for the Tigers going 3.2 innings, came into relief was Sowders going 2.0 innings, and Gram went 0.1 innings.

 

Up Next for the Tigers, they will be back in action on April 23 as they will host in town rival and 51st District opponent the Knox Central Panthers on the road, game-time is set for 5:30 PM.

 

Up Next for the Jaguars, they will be back in action on April 22, as they will host the Jackson County Generals, game-time is set for 6:00 PM.
