Lady Wildcats win 51st District Tournament Championship 3-2

(Corbin, KY) After yesterday's rain-out which forced the game to be played today. The game was not able to play at Lynn Camp High School due to field conditions. It forced the game to be moved to Corbin High School where they have a turf field.

 

What a way to start out a District Championship game which lead both teams to go scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when a triple by Lauren Partin on a hit to Center field allowed Chelsea Hendrickson to score to make the score 1-0 Lady Wildcats. On the next play Allison Messer singled to the second baseman allowing Lauren Partin to make the score 2-0 Lady Wildcats. 

 

The score stayed 2-0 until the top of the sixth inning when the Lady Lions got on the board, thanks to a Fielder's Choice by Addison Slone allowed Rayanna Maidon to score to trim the Lynn Camp score to 2-1. Then Rachel Howard fielder's choice to the second baseman allowed Addison Slone to score to tie the game at 2

 

The game would remain tied at 2 until the bottom of the tenth inning when the Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats would have the bases loaded. When Charity Steele would reach on an error allowed Emma Burnette would score to win the game for the Lady Wildcats.

Both teams will advance to the 13th Region Tournament which will be played next week brackets have not been released yet due to one game left to be played.

 

Rachel Howard was in the pitching circle for the Lady Lions, Jorja Carnes was in the pitching circle for the Lady Wildcats.

 

Rachel Howard pitched 9.2 innings, gave up 11 hits, 3 runs (2 earned runs), 3 walks, on 17 strikeouts.

 

Jorja Carnes pitched 10.0 innings, gave up 3 hits, 2 runs both of them was earned runs, 1 walk, and on 18 strikeouts.

 

Lynn Camp improves to 23-11 on the season, and Pineville will fall to 14-7 on the season.
