Green Dragons captured 52nd District Tournament Championship with a 7-5 victory over the Bell County Bobcats

(Pineville, KY) It's the 2024 KHSAA 52nd District Baseball Tournament Championship between the visiting Harlan Green Dragons and the home team Bell County Bobcats.

 

The Green Dragons jumped out to the early lead in the top of the second inning when Chris Rouse drew a walk and then Brody Owens doubled scoring two runs and then an error scored two more runs.

 

Then in the top of the third inning the Green Dragons extended there early lead when Baylor Varner hit a sacrifice fly and then the Bobcats committed an error allowed two runs to score.

 

Bobcats got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning when Brigmon grounded into a fielder's choice to trim the Green Dragons lead to 7-1. Then in the bottom of the sixth inning Clark sacrifice fly to right fielder allowed Cooper Brock to score to make the score 7-2 Harlan. A ground ball out by Brigmon allowed Blake Burnett to score to trim the lead down to 7-3. As we go to the bottom of the seventh inning, when Daniel Thomas grounds out to the third baseman allows Fuson to score to make the score 7-4 Harlan. Blake Burnett hits a sacrifice fly to right fielder allows Greene to score but it was to little to late for the Bobcats.

 

Harlan captures the 52nd District Tournament Championship for the first time since 2015.

 

Luttrell started on the mound for the Green Dragons, and Cooper Brock started on the mound for the Bobcats.

 

Both teams will advance to the 13th Region Tournament next week
