Lady Cardinals roll past Lady Cats in opening round of 13th Region Tournament

(Corbin, KY) It's the opening night of the 13th Region Tournament which is held at Lynn Camp High School. Game one will feature the champions out of the 51st District the Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats verses the runners-up out of the 50th District the South Laurel Lady Cardinals.

 

Lynn Camp comes in with a record of 23-11 overall, South Laurel comes in with a record of 26-9 overall. 

 

The game started out scoreless as both teams didn't score a run. 

 

In the top of the second inning, the Lady Cardinals opened up the scoring putting up 7 in the top of the second inning, thanks to Addison Baker hit into a fielder's choice. Morgan Jackson single, Kenzie Williams double, and Emmie Rice homer to Center Field.

 

In the bottom of the second inning the Lady Cats got on the board thanks to a walk by Chelsea Hendrickson, trimming the Lady Cardinals lead to 7-1.

 

In the top of the third inning the Lady Cardinals extended there lead by putting a 3 spot on the board. Thanks to a Single by Kenzie Williams allowing 2 runs to score. A single by Bailey Fraizer. Your score after 3 and a half innings South Laurel Lady Cardinals lead 10-1.

 

The score would remain the same until the top of the fifth inning when the Lady Cardinals put up another 3 runs on the board. Thanks to a Homerun by Bailey Fraizer allowing 3 runs to score.

 

Your final score from game number 1 of the 13th Region Tournament. South Laurel 13 Lynn Camp 1.

 

Kenzie Williams took the win for the Lady Cardinals. She went 5.0 innings, on 2 hits, 1 run (that run was unearned), 3 walks and 5 strikeouts.

 

Jorja Carnes took the loss for the Lady Cats. She went 5.0 innings, on 12 hits, 13 runs (9 of them was earned), on 6 walks, and 5 Strikeouts.

 

The Lady Cardinals will advance to the semi-finals of the 13th Region Tournament where they will wait for the winner of game number 2 between the Harlan Lady Dragons and the Jackson County Lady Generals.
