Colonels roll past Panthers 5-0 to advance to the 13th Region Baseball Tournament Semi-finals

(Barbourville, KY) It's game number 2 of the 13th Region Baseball Tournament, game two will be between the champions out of the 51st District the Knox Central Panthers and the runners-up of the 50th District the Whitley County Colonels.

 

The Colonels got on the board first in the top of first inning, when Wilson grounds out to the second baseman allows Anderson to score making the score 1-0 Whitley County.

 

The score remained 1-0 until the top of the sixth inning when they scored 4 runs thanks to when Nunley doubles allowing one run to score. Then a single by Cureton allowed one run to score. Then Allen reaches on an error allowed two runs to score.

Allen started on the mound for the Whitley County Colonels, he went 7.0 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 walk, and 8 strikeouts, also got the win for the Colonels.

 

Bright started on the mound for the Panthers, he went 6.0 innings, he gave up 5 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 1 walk, and 9 strikeouts. He also took the loss for the Panthers. Came into relief for the Panthers was Carroll, he went 1.0 inning, and 1 hit.

 

Whitley County will advance to the 13th Region Baseball Tournament Semi-finals will take on the Clay County Tigers at 7:30 PM tomorrow evening at Knox Central High School.
