(Lexington, KY) It's game number four on day number two of the 2024 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament, it will feature the champions out of the 1st Region the McCracken County Mustangs verses the champions out of the 15th Region the Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs.
McCracken County got on the board first thanks to a double by Karleigh Grace Walker, making it 1-0 McCracken County in the top of the first inning.
The Lady Bulldogs got on the board in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a ground ball out by Addalyn Woods, allowed Hallie Adkins to score making it 1-1 game.
The game would remain tied until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Bulldogs would take the lead off of a 2 run Homerun by Abby Nelson to make the score 3-1 Lawrence County. They added to their run by Bree Jones stole home to make the score 4-1.
Mustangs added a run in the top of the fifth inning thanks to a double by Addley Leidecker to make the score 4-2 Lawrence County. They added a run in the top of the sixth when Olivia Lee trims the Lady Bulldogs lead to 4-3. A walk by Ellie Shoulders ties the game up at 4. Then a single by Lily Hamilton allows 3 runs to score making the score 7-4 Mustangs.
Lawrence County was able to trim the lead down to two when Addalyn Woods reaches on an error allows Abby Nelson to score making the score 7-5 McCracken County. Then a single by Danielle Crum allowing two runs to score to tie the game up at 7, allowed Abby Nelson and Ella Smith to score.
McCracken County retakes the lead thanks to a fielder's choice by Macy Butler, then a triple by Ellie Shoulders allowed two runs to score making it 9-7. Then a sacrifice bunt by Cami Cox making it 10-7. Then another single by Addley Leidecker increases the lead to 11-7.
Lawrence County adds a run in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to Abby Nelson makes the score 11-8 McCracken County.
In the circle for the Lawrence County Lady Bulldogs is Brooklyn Ellis, she went 6.2 innings, gave up 13 hits, 8 runs (7 earned), 3 walks, and 1 Strikeout. In for relief for the Mustangs is Anna Kate Hawes, she went 3.0 innings, gave up 4 hits, on 4 runs (1 earned), 2 walks, and had 4 Strikeouts. Anna Kate Hawes got the win for the Mustangs.
McCracken County will advance to the 2024 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament Quarterfinals will face the Henderson County Lady Colonels at 8:30 PM tomorrow night at John Cropp Stadium.
