North Laurel is advancing to the 2024 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Softball State Championship Game.
North Laurels run to the state championship game hasn't been an easy one. North had to go through Jackson County in the 49th district championship. North went head-to-head against Harlan County in the first round of the 13th region tournament. North had to collide against Corbin in the semifinals of the 13th region tournament. North had a hard-fought battle against their cross-town rival South Laurel in the 13th region championship game.
Now moving on to the 2024 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament. North Laurel beat Letcher County Central with a final score of 6 - 4. North Laurel beat Boyd County with a final of 5 - 4 with one of the most magic runs I have ever seen. North Laurel beat Assumption with a final score of 8 - 0.
Now there is only one game left for North Laurel to bring the hardware home. There will be one of two teams left standing in their way. Which is South Warren or Henderson County. South Warren comes in with a record of 39 - 3. Henderson County comes in with a record of 34 - 5.
One of the best quotes I have heard came from North Laurel's Bella Sizemore. Bella said, " Why not us, why not North Laurel ". Bella also said, " most teams didn't pitch their Ace pitcher against us because they didn't know how good of a hitting team we are" and " that she was so proud of her team"
Being led by Saige McClure with 54 Rbi's and 4 home runs. Ellie Adams with 45 rbis and 5 home runs. Bella Sizemore with 44 rbis and 3 home runs. Katie Sams with 25 rbis. Emma Carl with 25 rbis and 6 home runs. Braylee Fawbush with 26 rbis and 1 home run. Katie Keen with 30 rbis and 3 home runs. Bella Finley with 22 rbis and 2 home runs. Morgan Edwards with 29 rbis and 3 home runs. It will be hard for either team to slow down the hitting machine known as the North Laurel Lady Jaguars.
