Last year it was Lexington Catholic with the 84-50 win as both team's season openers. They lost in the 2023-2024 season 77-65. Can North Laurel make a season opener win in the 2024-2025 season? The answer to that question is yes, they can with a 64-38 victory.
Reece Davidson led the North Laurel Jaguars to victory tonight by starting the season with 27 points. His shooting on the free throw line and in the paint was the biggest impact for the team. But you can never look past his insane rebounding skills that led to many turnovers to help the team advance.
Jordan Rawlings was right behind with 15 points and most of them points were baskets on the three-point line. His passing efforts and ability to move quickly and analyze the floor benefited him in order to get more open shots that were clean and precise.
RJ Noble was a threat on his shooting with 7 points made. His free throws were on point couldn't be beat. His ability to get down the court quickly and to led to more open opportunities and great plays. His defense on the other end of the court was unstoppable and one of the defenders you don't want to mess within the paint.
The whole team made an effort in the win and you could tell by watching. Everyone talked and knew what was going on at all points in the game.
Point guard Cooper Elza got the ball down the court with ease and was able to read the court with such accuracy. He was able to defend guys bigger than him with how quick he is. Joe Smith got fouled a lot tonight but it was because he was so aggressive and you can tell that he meant business. He aggressive play style benefited the team in getting the rebounds and more picks were set to free other teammates up. The whole team came together at the end and made sure it was a team effort.
North Laurel will be a team to watch out for there coming out hot and going to stay hot. There wasn't one person on the court it was the whole team with a coaching staff behind there every move. North Laurel is led by Nate Valentine who gave the confidence and determination to his players and you can tell how much trust he has in them, and they have in him by watching them play. Definitely a team to watch out for.
