The Run of the century

South Laurel’s baseball team off to a perfect year so far with a 10-2 win over Ashland Blazer. The 6-0 mark hasn’t been completed since 2014 when Winston Harris coached.

Waylon Hensley lead the Cardinals to victory with a stellar pitching performance and an excellent batting performance. Waylon went 5 innings for the Cardinals allowing only one hit and 6 strikeouts. Waylon Hensley at the plate collected 3 hits and 2 RBIS and getting hit once.

Tyler Curry stepped up to finish the game for the Cardinals pitching the last 2 innings allowing 1 run, and 4 strikeouts. The pitching duo was a hard force to beat on the mound.

Reece Noble the centerfielder for South Laurel came in at the bottom of the line up providing some powerful hits. With 3 runs, 1 hit and 1 base on ball.

The batting lineup was set up to win. In every spot of the lineup. You had power hitters and then behind some of them you had people to bunt and knock the runners around the bases which lead to a lot of runs for the Cardinals. You can’t forget how the team all has some powerful arms in the field that helped them get quick transitions and get a lot of runners out.
