Lady Dragons roll in District opener over Lady Cats

(Pineville, KY) It's the 52nd District opener for both the Bell County Lady Cats and the Harlan Lady Dragons. Both teams look to get started 1-0 in a very tough 52nd District.

 

Ella Lisenbee collected four hits in four at bats for the Lady Dragons.

 

Harlan got on the board first in the top of the first inning after Ella Farley singled, and Addison Jackson walked, each scoring one run.

 

Harlan added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Addison Jackson tripled, scoring two runs, Ava Nunez singled, scoring one run, and Abby Fields doubled, scoring one run.

 

Lady Dragons scored seven runs on eight hits in the top of the third inning. Amy Roman doubled, scoring one run, Ella Farley  singled, scoring one run. Addison Jackson tripled, scoring two runs. Ava Nunez singled, scoring one run. Fields singled, scoring one run, and Annie Hoskins singled, scoring one run. Lady Dragons scored six runs on five hits in the top of the fifth inning. A passed ball scored two runs. Ella Lisenbee singled, scoring one run. Addison Jackson singled, scoring one run, and Jordyn Smith doubled, scoring two runs.

 

In the circle for the Lady Dragons was Mallory McNiel. She allowed seven hits on five runs (four earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Camdyn Thomas was in the circle for the Lady Cats. She allowed  seven hits on eight runs (four earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out three and walking four.. Smith appeared in relief for the Lady Dragons. 

 

Harlan pilled up 19 hits in the game. Addison Jackson provided the pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Lady Dragons with five RBI's. The right handed hitter went 3-4 on the day. Farley, Roman, Fields, Nunez, and Smith each collected multiple hits for the Lady Dragons. The Lady Dragons accumulated eight walks in the game. Farley and Nunez led the team with walks. Farley, Lisenbee, Jackson, Fields, and Nunez each stole multiple bases for the Lady Dragons (19 stolen bases as a team).

 

The Lady Cats accumulated 12 hits in the game. The number nine hitter, Scott showed the depth of the Lady Cats lineup, by leading them with three hits in three at bats. Maiden led the Lady Cats with 3 RBI's. Boateng went collected two hits in for at bats for the Lady Cats.


The Lady Dragons will be back in action tomorrow evening as they will host the Pineville Lady Lions game time at 6:00 PM

 

Bell County will be back in action tomorrow as they will travel to Middlesboro to take on the Middlesboro Lady Jackets game time at 5:30 PM
