
(Barbourville, KY) South Laurel travels down to Barbourville to take on the Knox Central Panthers
The Cardinals scored eight runs in the second inning, which helped them defeat the Knox Central Panthers 15-3 on Thursday Night. Tyler Curry doubled, scoring two runs, Austin Byrd doubled, scoring one run, Waylon Hensley homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Will Alsip homered to left field, scoring two runs.
Four more Cardinals runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 12-3. Hunter Bundy hit a solo homerun to right field, Jack Vaughn drew a walk, scoring one run, Keaton Creech was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Zach Carroll induced Austin Byrd to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Three more Cardinals runs crossed the plate in the firth inning to extend the lead to 15-3. Vince Sizemore doubled, scoring two runs, and Vaughn hit a solo homerun to left field.
Will Alsip earned the win for the South Laurel Cardinals. The righty surrendered one hit and three runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out six and walking six. Jaden Broughton took the loss for the Knox Central Panthers. The starting pitcher went two innings, allowed eight runs on seven hits, striking out one and walking two.
The Cardinals accumulated 11 hits in the game. Hensley led the Cardinals with three runs batted in. Sizemore led the Cardinals with three hits in three at bats. Alsip and Byrd each collected multiple hits for the Cardinals. Cole Harville paced the Cardinals with two walks. South Laurel pilled up six walks in the game and Bundy stole two bases.
Cayden Collins led the Panthers with one hit in one at bat. Waylon Frazier, Hayden Melton, and Grant Miller each drove in one run for the Panthers. Knox Central tallying six walks for the game. John Davis and Hayden Melton led the team with two walks each. Knox Central didn't commit an error in the game.
South Laurel will be back in action tomorrow night as they will host the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets gametime at 6:00 PM
Knox Central will be back in action on Sunday as they will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC they will be playing in the Cal Ripken Experience against the Madison Southern Eagles gametime at 6:00 PM
