(Pineville, KY) It was a 51st District Showdown in Pineville on Friday Night as the Barbourville Lady Tigers traveled to Pineville to take on the Pineville Lady Lions
The Lady Tigers were the first to get on the board in the top of the first inning when a steal of home scored one run.
Pineville took the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Kenzie Laws hit an inside the park homerun, scoring two runs, to give the Lady Lions a 2-1 lead.
Pineville scored one run in the bottom of the second on a solo homerun to left field by Isabella Adams on a 0-2 count.
Kaitlyn McDonald took the loss for the Lady Tigers she went six innings, surrendering six runs on nine hits, striking out 10 and walking four
Laws drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Lady Lions with two runs batted in. The 3-hole hitter went 2-3 on the day. Isabella Adams, Kenzie Laws, Nadine Johnson, and Madison Johnson each collected two hits for the Lady Lions. Baileigh Bargo and Johnson each stole multiple bases for the Lady Lions (they stole nine bases in the game).
K P drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Lady Tigers with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 1-3 on the night. Allie Gibbs, led the team with 2 hits in three at bats. Gibbs, L. Bruce, Aubrey Richardson, Lindsey Thomas, and Aubrey Whoolum each stole multiple bases for the Lady Tigers (they stole 14 bases on the night). Whoolum made the most plays with 16.
Rachel Howard with the win for the Lady Lions she struck out 15 hitters, giving up 4 hits, 4 runs, 2 earned runs, 2 walks.
What a young group of Lady Tigers and Lady Lions they both have only 3 seniors combined these two teams futures are very bright.
Lady Tigers will be back in action on April 8 as they will open up the 13th Region All "A" Classic against the Middlesboro Lady Jackets gametime at 6:00 PM
Lady Lions will be back in action on April 4 as they will travel to Jellico, TN to take on the Jellico Lady Devils game time at 6:00 PM
