
The South Laurel Cardinals soared to a dominant 10-0 victory over the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets on Friday night. The Cardinals' offense erupted in the later innings, putting the game out of reach for Middlesboro.
South Laurel broke the game open in the 3rd inning, plating 5 runs to take a commanding 5 - 0 lead. They continued their offensive surge in the 4th inning, adding another 5 runs to their total. The Cardinals' pitching staff was equally impressive, shutting out the Yellow Jackets throughout the game.
Leading the charge for South Laurel was Cole Harville on the mound. Harville was nearly unhittable, striking out 3 batters while throwing a total of 12 strikes in just 1 inning pitched. He also made his presence felt at the plate, driving in 2 runs and swiping a stolen base.
Waylon Hensley provided a spark at the top of the Cardinals' lineup, going a perfect 3-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Vince Sizemore also chipped in with 2 RBIs to aid the South Laurel offense.
For Middlesboro, Case Bayless battled on the mound, striking out 2 batters and throwing 29 total strikes. However, the Yellow Jackets' offense was unable to find its footing against the dominant South Laurel pitching.
With this win, the South Laurel Cardinals solidify their position as a force to be reckoned with. They will look to continue their winning ways in their upcoming games.
