Green Dragons gets impressive win over Betsy Layne 15-5

(Betsy Layne, KY) The Betsy Layne Bobcats travel to Harlan, KY to take on the Harlan Green Dragons

 

Harlan got on the board in the top of the second inning after Jacob Newsome induced Brody Owens to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored, Luke Luttrell drew a walk, scoring one run, Jake Brewer drew a walk, scoring one run, Baylor Varner singled, scoring two runs, and Donovan Montanaro singled, scoring one run.

 

Green Dragons scored five runs on four hits in the top of the third inning. Jake Brewer singled, scoring one run, Donovan Montanaro singled, scoring two runs, Eli Freyer singled, scoring one run, and Chris Rouse hit into a double play but only one run scored.

 

Eli Freyer started on the mound for the Green Dragons, he surrendered one hit and four runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking five. Newsome opened the game for the Bobcats. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and five runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking four. Varner, Montanaro, and Aiden Johnson each appeared in relief for the Green Dragons.

 

The Green Dragons tallied 12 hits for the game. Varner, Montanaro, Brewer, and Rouse each collected two hits for the Green Dragons. Montanaro and Brewer each drove in three runs for Harlan. They was very patient at the plate collecting eight walks in the game. Luttrell and Johnson  led the team with two walks each. Varner, Owens, Montanaro, and Rouse each stole multiple bases (11 stolen bases for the game). The Green Dragons turned one double play.

 

EJ Hoggard and Aiden Morris each drove in one run for the Bobcats. Conner Bentley led Betsy Layne with one hit in one at bat. Caleb Akers led the Bobcats with three walks (nine walks in the game). Betsy Layne turned one double play.
