Lady Cardinals win a shootout against St. Ignatius College Prep 18-12

(Orlando, FL) Despite tailing by as much as eight runs the Lady Cardinals rallied to beat St. Ignatius College Prep 18-12 on Wednesday.

 

Addison Baker collected three hits in four at bats in the win, she also hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning, doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the first inning.

 

St. Ignatius College Prep got on the board in the top of the first inning after the Lady Cardinals committed an error. Giovanna Siafyalello singled, and sam Steinhifer singled, each scoring one run.

 

Lady Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Emmie Rice, a single by Skye Lawson and a wild pitch.

 

St. Ignatius College Prep flipped the game in the second inning, scoring five runs on three hits to take a 8-3 lead over the Lady Cardinals. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Caroline Leavu that drove in two runs. Sophia Fredericks hit a solor home run to left field in the top of the third inning.

 

South Laurel flipped the game back on its head in the bottom of the sixth inning scoring 14 runs on 12 hits to take a 18-11 lead. The biggest blow in the inning for the Lady Cardinals was a homerun to left field by Rice that drove in two runs.

 

Audrey Likins earned the win for the Lady Cardinals, gave up five hits and four runs overfive and one-third innings, striking out four and walking seven. Siafyalello took the loss for St. Ignatius College Prep, went five and one-third innings, allowing 11 runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walking three. Morgan Jackson started in the circle for the Lady Cardinals, surrendered six hits and eight runs (four earned) over one and two-third innings, striking out two and walking three.

 

Lady Cardinals accumulated 17 hits in the game. Baker, Lawson, Bretz each collected three hits. Jackson, Lawson, and Rice drove in three runs. Likins and Bailey Frazier each collected multiple hits for the Lady Cardinals.

 

St. Ignatius College Prep accumulated 11 hits in the game. Leavu provided the pop in the middle of the lineup with three runs batted in, and went 2-4 on the day. Fredericks and Siafyalello each collected three hits. Abby Lee collected two hits in four at bats. Lynch had two walks. and as a team they collected 10 walks in the game.
