Cardinals roll past Tigers 12-6 on a rainy evening

(London, KY) On a rainy day across the commonwealth the South Laurel Cardinals and the Barbourville Tigers managed to play there game with the Cardinals having turf on field they didnt have to worry about the rain. 

 

The Tigers got on the board first in the top of the first inning off of a South Laurel error.

 

In the bottom of the first inning the Cardinals took back the lead after Vince Sizemore singled, Will Alsip hit a sacrifice fly, Noah Smith singled, and Tyler Curry singled, each scoring one run. Austin Byrd homered to center field in the bottom of the third inning for the Cardinals.

 

Tigers scored five runs on four hits in the top of the fourth inning. Caiden Miracle was hit by a pitch, driving in a run, Sam Buchanan doubled, scoring two runs, and Luke Hillard singled, scoring two runs.

 

Tyler Curry earned the win for the Cardinals, he allowed four hits on six runs (five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out six and walking three. Luke Hilliard took the loss for the Tigers, he went three and one-third innings, surrendering eight runs (Seven earned) on eight hits, striking out two and walking four. Keaton Creech pitched one and one-third innings of shutout ball for the Cardinals in relief. he allowed one hit, striking out two and walking two.

 

Cardinals piled up 13 hits in the game. Austin Byrd led the way with three runs batted in and he also went 2-3 on the day. Vince Sizemore Reece Noble, Noah Smith,  Austin Byrd, and Hunter Bundy each collected two hits for the South Laurel Cardinals. Also, Hunter Bundy stole two bases in the game. As a team the Cardinals stole four bases. They also turned one double play in the game.

 

Sam Buchanan and Luke Hillard were a one two punch in the lineup, as each drove in two runs for the Tigers. Luke Hillard led the Tigers with two hits in three at bats.

 

Up Next for the Tigers they will be back in action tomorrow (April 12) as they will host the Somerset Christian School Cougars, game time is set for 6:00 PM.
