
(Prestonsburg, KY) The South Laurel Cardinals took part in the Prestonsburg Invitational by Play Ball Puerto Rico held at Prestonsburg High School on Saturday.
Prestonsburg
Prestonsburg got on the board first in the bottom of the first inning thanks to when Kidd grounded into a fielder's choice making the score 1-0. Then a steal of home allowed the Blackcats to score making it 2-0.
The Cardinals got on the board in the top of the fourth inning, thanks to Alsip sacrifice fly to center field to trim the lead to 2-1.
In the top of the sixth inning the Cardinals would tie the game thanks to Alsip coming through with a RBI single. As we go to the seventh inning the Cardinals would take the lead when Noble doubles allowing Creech to score.
That would be enough for the Cardinals to come away with the victory.
Berea-Midpark, OH
In game number two the Cardinals will be taking on the Berea-Midpark Titans out of Ohio.
The Cardinals got on the board first when a bases loaded walk allowed a run to score.
The Titans got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when Samarin singled allowing Sudduth to score, making the score tied at 1
South Laurel took back the lead on a Curry line drive making the score 2-1 Cardinals. Then a walk by Alsip extends the Cardinals lead to 3-1. Followed by a single by Smith, extending the lead to 4-1. A double play by the Titans, but a run did score to make it 5-1.
The Titans Smarin hits a 2 run homerun to Center field, making the score 5-3 Cardinals.
In the Top of the seventh inning Vaughn double extends the Cardinals lead to 6-3. A walk by Bundy allows another run to score making the score 7-3.
That would be enough for the Cardinals to get the win over the Titans.
Up Next for the Cardinals, they will be back in action on Monday, as they travel to Manchester, KY to take on the Clay County Tigers, game-time is at 6:00 PM
