(Manchester, KY) A big time matchup between two 13th Region Powerhouses, the South Laurel Cardinals travel up Hal Rogers Parkway to take on the Clay County Tigers.
South Laurel got on the board first when Noble singles to right field allowing Byrd to score, to make the score 1-0 Cardinals.
South Laurel adds three runs in the top of the third inning, when Sizemore singles to Center field, to make the score 2-0 Cardinals. The Cardinals added to there lead on a walk by Alsip and a single by Noble to make it 4-0 Cardinals.
In the top of the fifth inning, a double by Curry makes it 5-0. A single by Noble makes it 6-0. A walk by Creech 7-0 Cardinals.
In the top of the sixth inning the Cardinals extend there lead on an error to make it 9-0. Back to back walks extends the lead to 11-0.
The Tigers finally gets on the board on a single by Roberts to trim the lead to 11-1. A double by Crawford makes it 11-3. An error on Wagers makes it 11-4 Cardinals. A double by Marcum makes it 11-6 South Laurel. Crocket reaches on an error to make the score 11-7. What a rally by the Tigers.
In the top of the seventh inning, a walk by Alsip makes the score 12-7 South Laurel. The Cardinals extend there lead to 13-7.
Alsip got the win for the Cardinals, he went 5.2 innings, allowed 3 hits 4 runs, e walks and 8 strikeouts. Curry came into relief went 1.1 innings, 2 hits, 3 runs, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
Wagners took the loss for the Tigers, he went 2.1 innings, 4 hits, 4 runs (4 earned) and 3 walks, and 1 strikeout.
