(Williamsburg, KY) In a dominant performance, the Whitley County Colonels kicked off their soccer season with a resounding 6-0 victory over the Harlan County Black Bears. The match, held at Whitley County High School, was filled with excitement and anticipation.
Jacob Senters ignited the scoring for Whitley County, netting the first goal in the 30th minute of the first half. Just under four minutes before halftime. Senters struck again giving the Colonels a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the break.
The second half saw no let-up from Whitley County as they continued to control the pace of the game. Tucker Hale and Bryson Mahan each contributed two goals to tally, sealing the victory for the Colonels.
Whitley County's defensive unit was equally impressive, shutting down Harlan County's offensive attempts throughout the match.
With the convincing win, Whitley County advances in the 2A bracket. Whitley County will face a tough test on the road against Barbourville on Thursday. Harlan County will look to regroup as they travel to Middlesboro tomorrow.
