HISTORY MADE: MBP All Stars defeat Marion County All Stars 11-9 to win the Kentucky Senior League State Championship

(New Castle, KY) It was game number 2 a winner takes all Senior League State Championship game between the MBP (Middlesboro-Bell-Pineville) All Stars and the Marion County All Stars. Winner of this game will represent Kentucky in the Central Regionals of the Senior League Regionals.

 

Both MBP All Stars and Marion County All Stars had their offenses going in game number 2 on Sunday, but MBP All Stars eventually prevailed 11-9 over Marion County. MBP All Stars had 10 hits, while Marion County had 11 hits. Kolbi Mason collected four hits in four at bats in the win for MBP All Stars. She singled in the second inning, doubled in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

 

Marion County All Stars got on the board first in the top of the first inning after Shaver grounded out. Farris doubled, and then Strut grounded out, each scoring one run.

 

MBP All Stars tied the game in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a pass ball, a single by Alexis Middleton, and then a ground out by Abney Allen.

 

A single by Mason gave MBP All Stars the 5-3 lead in the bottom of the second inning.

 

Marion County All Stars tied the game in the top of the third inning thanks to a triple by Strut, and a single by Benningfield.

 

Then in the bottom of the fourth inning, MBP All Stars broke up the tie when Mason singled, scoring one run. then Middleton followed to give MBP All Stars the 7-5 lead. Then Abby Jackson hit a solo inside the park homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning to extend the lead to 8-5.

 

Adyson Scott earned the win for MBP All Stars. She gave up 11 hits on 9 runs (eight earned) over seven innings, striking out three and walking seven.

 

Mattingly took the loss for Marion County. She went six innings, gave up 11 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, striking out seven and walking six.

 

MBP All Stars had 10 hits in the game. Kenley Foster collected two hits in four at bats. The MBP All Stars had six walks in the game. Scott and Keevie Betts led the game with two free passes. Trinity Partin and Keevie Betts stole multiple bases for the MBP All Stars. They stole eight bases as a team.

 

Marion County had 11 hits in the game. Farris and Gibbons were a force in there lineup each had three hits. Mattingly seized on the opportunities having three RBI's from the nine spot in the lineup. Benningfield lead Marion County with three walks. Marion County had seven walks in the game.

 

MBP All Stars will advance to the Central Regionals which is being held in Lexington, KY. The host of the Central Regional is Anderson County Softball Little League. It will be played July 23-26
