The Red Hot Cardinals
South Laurel’s Baseball team now extends their winning streak to 7-0 with a win over Rowan County 13-6.
The Cardinals are making history one day at a time. 7-0 mark hasn’t been done since 2014 with Winston Harris. The perfect season start is one of the hardest things to manage in sports but Trey Smith’s Cardinals are keeping the perfect season alive so far.
The team was led by Will Alsip and Vincent Sizemore in the batters box. Vincent Sizemore started off the lineup for the Cardinals with 2 hits and 3 RBIs. Will Alsip had 1 hit and 3 RBIs. Jack Vaughn, Bryson Turner, and Keaton Smith all had two runs for the Cardinals in their big win.
Will Alsip also led the team on the pitching mound. Going 5 innings allowing 6 hits, 5 runs and 3 Strikeouts. Keaton Creech came out and finished the last two innings for the Cardinals allowing 2 hits, and 1 run.
The power dynamic of the hitters and the amount of control they have on the mound is hard to beat. The Cardinals just started the season but are going to be a team to watch out for as they continue to get better every single game they play.
