Black Bears come up short against McDowell

(Atlanta, GA) It was game number 1 for the Harlan County Black Bears in the PBR Atlanta Spring Break there opponent was the McDowell Titans out of Marion, North Carolina

 

The Black Bears opened up the scoring in the first inning after Issac Kelly grounded out, scoring one run.

 

McDowell jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Christian Elliott singled, and Dany Brown doubled, each scoring one run.

 

A single by TJ Miller, and error, and a passed ball helped McDowell extend their early lead in the second inning.

 

Alex Creech pitched four and one-third innings in relief for the Black Bears, allowed zero hits and zero runs, while striking out two and walking two. Tristan Cooper took the loss for the Black Bears, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking none.

 

Kelly led the Black Bears with one run batted in. Jonah Swanner led the Black Bears with two hits on four at bats. 

 

Miller and Brown each collected two hits. Miller and Elliott, and Brown each drove in one run for the Titans. Miller stole two bases. McDowell had four stole bases for the game.

 

Up Next for the Black Bears they will play two games on April 3 against DePaul College Prep (Chicago), IL at 2:00 PM and Archbishop Moeller (Cincinnati), OH at 12:00 PM both games are in Atlanta, GA
