Jaguars fall in a close one to the Commodores 9-7

(London, KY) Jaguars got on the board in the first inning after Andrew Cupp doubled, and scoring one run.

 

Tates Creek captured the 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning after Jamison Craig homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Cooper Jackson doubled, scoring one run.

 

Jaguars went back into the lead when Jude McWhorter walked, Carter Kelly hit into a fielder's choice, and Andrew Cupp walked, each scoring one run.

 

The Commodores took back the lead in the third thanks to a single by Finley Insko, and Carter.

 

Eli Holt's singled helped the Jaguars tie the game up at 5 in the bottom of the fourth inning.

 

Commodores took the lead in the top of the fifth inning thanks to  Jackson single, scoring two runs to give Tates Creek the 7-5 lead.

 

North Laurel wouldn't go away, in the bottom of the fifth inning, Cam Hinkle singled, and a double by Kelly.

 

But in the top of the sixth inning, the Commodores took the lead back after Carter drew a walk, scoring one run, to give Tates Creek the 8-7 advantage.

 

Zac Johnson took the loss for the Jaguars, he went two innings, giving up two runs (one earned), giving up three hits, striking out four and walking four. J. Douglas Gilliam started the game for the Jaguars. He gave up seven hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out two and walking seven. Carson van Haaren began the game on the mound for the Commodores. He only surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over one inning, striking out two and walking none.

 

Jaguars had 9 hits in the game. While Hinkle, Holt, Kelley, and Cooper Elza each collected two hits for the North Laurel Jaguars. Cupp and Kelley each drove in two runs. While Hinkle led the team with two walks. The Jaguars had six walks in the game.

 

Tates Creek had 10 hits in the game. Jackson led the Commodores with three hits in five at bats. Craig collected two hits in five at bats. Austin McGaughey had three walks for the Commodores. The Team had 11 walks in the game. While they turned one double play in the game.

 

Up Next for the Jaguars, they will be back in action on Monday (April 15) as they will travel to Manchester, KY to take on the Clay County Tigers, game-time is set for 5:30 PM.
