
(Frankfort, KY) The Corbin Lady Redhounds went up to Frankfort, KY to take part in the Capital City Classic against two solid opponents. First opponent for the day was the Anderson County Lady Bearcats. The second opponent of the day was the Assumption Rockets.
Anderson County Bearcats
In game number one. A homerun to center field by Lacey Osborne put the Lady Bearcats on the board in the top of the first inning. They added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after the Lady Redhounds committed an error, and Emma Stevens singled, each scoring one run.
Lady Redhounds scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a home run to center field by Raegan Walker. Anela Sanders doubled after a six pitch at bat which helped the Lady Redhounds tie the game at four in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lady Bearcats flipped the game in the top of the eight inning, when they scored nine runs on seven hits to take a 13-4 lead.
Lady Redhounds made the score 13-8 in the bottom of the eight inning when Foley homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Kennedie Guiher singled, scoring one run. Their comeback effort fell just short.
Kallie Housley stepped in the circle for the Lady Redhounds. He gave up 15 hits on 12 runs (seven earned) over eight innings, striking out two and walking three. Osborne stepped in the circle for the Lady Bearcats, she allowed 11 hits and seven runs (six earned) over eight innings, striking out six and walking none.
Corbin piled up 11 hits in the game. Sanders, Guiher, and Bailey Stewart each collected multiple hits for the Lady Redhounds.
Anderson County pilled up 15 hits in the game. Bailey Mitchell and Stevens each collected three hits. Stevens went 3-5 at the plate with three runs batted in. Paige Garland, Faith McGregor, and Osborne each collected multiple hits. McGregor stole two bases. Anderson County tallying six stolen bases in the game, while turning one double play.
Assumption Rockets
In game number two of the Capital City Classic, Corbin opponent was the Assumption Rockets out of Louisville, KY
Raegan Walker collected three hits in four at bats in the loss. Hitting a homerun to center field in the fourth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the sixth inning.
Rockets got on the board in the top of the first inning when Jaelynn Oaks singled, Rylee Sandifer doubled, and Grace Sander singled, each scoring one run.
Lady Redhounds took the lead in the bottom of the third inning thanks to singles by Walker, and Kali Sanders. They added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on three hits. Morgan Hicks hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run. Walker homered to center field scoring three runs.
Rockets scored five runs on three hits in the top of the fifth inning. Oaks singled, scoring one run, Sandifer singled, scoring two runs, and an error scored two runs. Rockets tied the game in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a double by Oaks, and then Oaks tagged up to score a run. In the top of the seventh inning the Rockets took the lead when Maleya Giddens hit into a fielder's choice allowing one run to score to give the Rockets a 12-11 lead.
Ava Lou Mattingley earned the win for the Rockets, she allowed two hits on two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one. Foley took the loss for the Lady Redhounds, she went seven innings, allowing 12 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits, striking out four and walking two. Oaks began the game for the Rockets, she allowed 10 hits on 9 runs (four earned) over one-third innings, striking out five and walking two.
Corbin collected 12 hits in the game. Walker and Kallie Housley each collected three hits. Anela Sanders and Kaili Sanderseach collected multipolle hits. While Bailey Stewart stole two bases.
Assumption accumulated 14 hits in the game. Sandifer and Oaks was a tough ones to handle as they each drove in four runs. Oaks led the Rockets with tree hits in four at bats. Sander, Mattingley, and Madison Crawford each collected multiple hits.
Up Next for the Lady Redhounds, they will be will be back in action on Monday (April 15) as they will host the Lynn Camp Lady Wildcats, game-time is set for 5:30 PM
